Common Signs that you need Flea Control
The most common sign of a problem by far is their irritating bites. Fleas only jump around 1-2 ft off the ground. Therefore bites are usually around the ankles and lower leg.
However if they have infested a bed or sofa it is to be expected that they will bite any part of the body. If so- flea control is required.
Pet problems: If your cat and dog are regularly itching and scratching, it is likely they have a problem. Check pet bedding for signs of the fleas. If you catch it early you may only have to treat the pet bedding rather than the whole house.
Sightings: If you have a problem you can often see them jumping about. Especially when you enter an empty property, the vibrations from your movement will wake the fleas and they will jump around looking to feed. These insects generally look black and are approximately 1mm in size.
Flea Control Emergency
- Fleas can cause huge disruption and embarrassment in a home or office.
- The last thing you want when going to sleep or having guests over is to be attacked
- We offer an emergency service when you require those out of hours or Sunday call outs.
Fleas In Your Home
These insects can live without food for several months and are naturally unable to lay eggs until they have a blood feed (from a cat or dog). They often live in carpets, pet bedding and other cracks and crevices around the house.
Eggs are often attached to carpet and fabric fibres. They are strongly attached by the female to these strands so even thorough vacuuming is unlikely to remove eggs from a property.

How we rid your Flea Problem
There are two recognised eradication techniques for removal. One is a chemical spray or fumigation treatment and the other is a heat treatment.
Both are extremely effective and guaranteed, however the heat treatment (our premium service) gives guaranteed eradication in the same day. For more information on this service please go to our dedicated insect heat treatment page here.
The chemical treatment involves spraying or fogging activity areas with a strong residual chemical, this will kill off all active fleas at the time of treatment and remain effective on surfaces until the dormant fleas come out and the eggs hatch and eventually kill these off too.
It is for this reason that the treatment is not instant, however it is very effective and guaranteed, so if the problem persists, we come back free of charge.
About the Flea
- The most common species that causes problems as a ‘pest’ is the cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis)
- Then the dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis)
- Both of these species feed on cat’s and dog’s blood but also bite humans
- This can cause irritations and sometimes adverse skin reactions.
